Bios
Pastor Rich Dover is the Outreach Pastor and a Cell Pastor for Victory Life Center. Since becoming a Christian in 1979 he has had a passion for souls and to help individuals to become disciples of Jesus Christ. For several years he has preached and taught at jails/prisons and within the local church. He has also been a street minister in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Besides preaching and teaching, in the past Pastor Rich has developed a discipleship program for a local church, managed a church owned Bookstore, youth pastor assistant, and volunteered wherever needed with various responsibilities. This will be his first mission trip.
Carmi Dover is a Cell Pastor and Prayer CoOrdinator for Victory Life Center. Carmi is originally from the Philippines and was raised as a Catholic. In 1990 she became a born again Christian and in 1993 she went on her first mission trip smuggling Bibles into China. Since that time she has done short missions trips to Hong Kong, Vietnam, Macau, Myanmar (Burma), Australia, and Filipino churches in San Jose, CA. Carmi has worked for Christian & Missionary Alliance and Alliance Biblical Seminary in the Philippines. Carmi was a Cell Pastor in the Philippines and some of her cell members became pastors and evangelsits. Pastor Rich and Carmi met while Carmi was the house manager of a transitional home on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA.
Over the years Pastor Rich and Carmi have volunteered numerous hours towards ministry, left good paying jobs to serve the Lord, and even lived in a studio apt for the first 3 years of their marriage. For them, the opportunity to serve the Lord and seeing lives changed is of more value than anything the world has to offer.
Information on Uganda Short Term Missions Trip
Pastor Rich and Carmi will be going on a Two-Week Short Term Missions Trip to Kampala, Uganda. They will be working with Missionaries Mike and Rebecca Vilumsons of World Outreach Ministry Foundation. Mike and Rebecca are also members of Victory Life Center. The Vilumsons are responsible for the Seguku Prison Ministry of WOMF. Seguku Prison Ministry is reaching out to the lost and hopeless in the prisons of Uganda (East Africa). The prisoners are in very poor conditions with no medical care and little food. Mike & Rebecca Vilumsons are bringing the life transforming message of Jesus Christ to these men and women, along with regular visits by a trained nurse, medicines, food, and other help. Their goal is to see these prisoners become workers in the Kingdom of God and good citizens.
While in Uganda Pastor Rich will be preaching and teaching at prisons and churches. Carmi will be ministering to the women at the prisons and churches. They will also be volunteering their time in whatever capacity they are needed to help Missionaries Mike and Rebecca in their ministry.
Mission Trip Costs
A member of Victory Life Center has made a donation to cover the lodging and meals while in Uganda. The airfare and lodging to Uganda is approximately $4,600 roundtrip for two people. Rich and Carmi hope to also raise funds to help purchase blankets for prisoners. There are literally thousands of prisoners who do not have blankets. The cost per blanket is $5. It is best for the blankets to be purchased in Uganda.
Donations
In order to do this Mission Trip, Pastor Rich and Carmi will need to raise the funds needed for the transportation and lodging to Uganda. All donations will first be applied to the travel costs and any additional funds that come in by October 2008 will be applied to help purchase blankets. Any donation amount will be greatly appreciated.
